What Governs Every Live Bet You Place

Live betting at meritbet means your wager is accepted at the odds displayed at the exact moment you confirm — not the odds from thirty seconds earlier. Markets fluctuate constantly during an NFL drive or an NBA fourth quarter, and our system timestamps each accepted bet. If a game is suspended or abandoned before a market reaches its natural conclusion, bets on

that market are voided and the stake is returned to your account. Lines may be pulled temporarily — that is a normal part of live pricing, not a technical error. Same-game parlays in live mode follow the same void logic: if one leg is voided, the parlay settles on remaining legs at their original odds.

FAIR PLAY STANDARDS

How We Keep Live Markets Consistent

Timestamped Acceptance

Every live bet is recorded at the exact second it clears our system. The odds you see at confirmation are the odds that bind — there is no retroactive adjustment after acceptance.

Void Policy Transparency

Void rules are set before markets open, not after a result. Abandoned games, postponed events moved beyond a defined window, and incomplete markets all follow documented void conditions.

Market Suspension Logic

When a live line is suspended — during a scoring play or a TV timeout — no bets are accepted. This prevents accepting wagers after information has moved the market, protecting both sides.

Same-Game Parlay Integrity

Live same-game parlays on NFL and NBA markets use correlated-leg checks. Combinations flagged as internally dependent are either blocked or capped, and those rules are applied at the point of bet construction.

Live Betting Terms You Should Know

01
What does 'in-play' mean in live sports betting?

In-play means a market is open and accepting wagers while the game is actively being played. Odds shift in real time based on the score, time remaining, and game flow.

02
What is a voided live bet?

A voided bet is one that cannot be settled as placed — typically because the game was abandoned or the specific market did not reach its conclusion. Your original stake is returned to your account.

03
What does market suspension mean?

Market suspension is a temporary pause on bet acceptance during a live game, usually triggered by a scoring play or a significant event. Lines reopen once odds are recalculated and verified.

04
What is a same-game parlay in live betting?

A same-game parlay combines multiple live markets from a single game — like a player prop and a game spread — into one wager. All legs must settle correctly for the parlay to pay.

05
What is a moneyline in a live market?

A moneyline is a straight win-or-lose bet on which team wins the game. In live markets, the price shifts as the score changes, so a favorite's moneyline shortens when they take the lead.

06
What does 'push' mean in live point spread betting?

A push occurs when the final margin lands exactly on the spread number. The bet is settled as a tie and your stake is returned — no win, no loss on that wager.

Live Betting Rules — Frequently Asked

These are the questions we see most often about how our live sportsbook rules work. If something specific to your account isn't covered here, live chat gets you a direct answer faster than searching.

Once our system confirms a live bet and assigns it a bet ID, it cannot be canceled by you or reversed by us outside of a documented void condition such as game abandonment. Check your bet history immediately after placing to confirm acceptance.

If one leg of a live parlay involves a game that is postponed and cannot be completed within the defined settlement window, that leg is voided. The parlay then recalculates on the remaining settled legs at their original accepted odds.

Live markets can suspend in milliseconds during a scoring play or timeout. If your bet was submitted during that window, it will be declined rather than accepted at stale odds. The market will reopen once pricing is updated — you can retry at that point.

Player prop live markets have outcome-specific rules. If a player exits the game due to injury before the prop market reaches its natural conclusion — for instance, a rushing yards total — that bet is generally voided and the stake is returned.

Overtime is included in full-game markets unless the market description explicitly states regulation only. For NFL live same-game parlays, game-spread and total legs extend into overtime. Check the individual market label in your bet slip before confirming.

Your account wallet stores each settled bet with its market name, the time of acceptance, and the odds locked in. For the rules that governed a specific market type, contact our support team with the bet ID and they can pull the relevant settlement record.
